Backstage is a proud member of The LIVE Network is a literary network that was established in partnership with Words Ireland, in 2018, as part of a Literary Audience Development Scheme, managed by curator Dani Gill. It comprises 6 venues nationally: The Backstage Theatre, The Ramor Theatre, Roscommon Arts Centre, The Source Arts Centre, Riverbank Arts Centre, and Droichead Arts Centre. The venues work together to develop literature and audiences for literature through programmed events, collaborations, tours and workshops. The LIVE Network supports writers and aims to animate communities and generate interest in reading, writing and literature as an artform. Projects to date have included One Book initiatives, online events via the LIVE Network YouTube Channel author events, outreach projects as well as the support of commissions, and residency opportunities for writers.
